Vasep, the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers, reports that in the first quarter of 2020, the outbreak of Covid-19 broke out strongly around the world, especially the countries that are importing a lot of Vietnamese seafood, resulting in a 10% decrease in the country’s seafood export results compared to the previous year. The same period of 2019 reached US $ 1.62 billion.

VASEP, the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers, reports that among the main export seafood products of Vietnam, while exports of pangasius, tuna and seafood decreased, Vietnam’s shrimp exports in the first quarter of this year were still positive.

According to Dong Thap provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural, the province has 2,450 hectares of pangasius ponds in value chain, 20 companies involved in pangasius farming for export (nearly 970 hectares) and 1,564 facilities where fries are produced and supplied to the market.

In the first 9 months of 2019, the total export value of pangasius to the German market reached US $ 22.9 million, up 32.5% over the same period in 2018. In September 2019 alone, pangasius export value to this market reached US $ 1.66 million, up 23.6% over the same period in 2018.
